The Day of the Lord

Rev 19-11 “Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war”.
In righteousness, he makes war. That statement is so different from the attitude of modern Christians. Is that where we went wrong? Are we no longer willing to make righteous war?
“His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself. He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God.” Jesus.
An angel says to the birds of heaven, “Come eat the flesh.” They are killed with a sword that comes from the mouth of Jesus. So, not a conventional sword or weapon. These bodies can still be eaten by birds.
The armies are defeated, and the beast, Antichrist, and false prophet are thrown into the Lake of Fire. This is the first time it has been recorded that someone has been thrown into the Lake of Fire. Are they there alone for a thousand years until others join them? A long time by yourself, sitting on the Naughty Step, thinking about what you have done wrong. Poor old Abaddon had only been out of the pit for a couple of years.

The armies of God swept the world.

Joel 2

“The sun shall be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the great and awesome day of the LORD comes. And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be those who escape”.

There will be darkness and a blood moon just before that day.

There are those who will be taken away and those who will survive. In Jerusalem, a place, but Mt. Zion, the place, is inside Jerusalem, so the same place. This is not the place; this is the ideology. Mount Zion, which is a state of mind of repentance.

Now the army sweeps the earth. Who are they, and what do they do? Joel 2 tells us.
Fire devours them, and behind them, a flame burns. The land is like the garden of Eden before them, but behind them is a desolate wilderness, and nothing escapes them.

Their appearance is like that of horses, and like war horses, they run. Rev. 19 says this army is riding on white horses.
As with the rumbling of chariots, they leap on the tops of the mountains, like the crackling of a flame of fire devouring the stubble, like a powerful army drawn up for battle. Before them, people are in anguish; all faces grow pale. Like warriors, they charge, and like soldiers, they scale the wall. They march each other's way; they do not swerve from their paths.
They do not jostle one another; each marches in his own path; they burst through the weapons and are not halted.
They leap upon the city, they run upon the walls; they climb up into the houses; they enter through the windows like a thief.

The earthquakes before them made the heavens tremble. The sun and the moon are darkened, and the stars withdraw their light.
The LORD utters his voice before his army, for his host is exceedingly great, and he who executes his word is powerful. For the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; who can endure it?

Joel goes on to say that even then, if you fall to your knees and seek forgiveness, you will be saved. Until the moment of death, even on this day, you can find salvation. There is something you can tell a lost relative. They may think you are crazy, but when all this is happening do not run, do not try to hide, just fall to your knees and repent.

Zechariah 14

Then the LORD, my God, will come, and all the holy ones will be with him. That day there shall be no light, cold, or frost. And there shall be a unique day, which is known to the LORD, neither day nor night, but at evening time there shall be light.
And this shall be the plague with which the LORD will strike all the peoples that wage war against Jerusalem: their flesh will rot while they are still standing on their feet, their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths. On that day, a great panic from the LORD shall fall on them, so that each will seize the hand of another, and the hand of the one will be raised against the hand of the other.

To summarise.

There will be a trumpet sound over the whole earth, and the skies will roll back. The armies of God will start to move. When this happens, the saints will be taken away. The angel army will wipe out the vast armies that are gathered at Armageddon. Joel’s picture of the way they climb walls and go through windows makes me think they are not standard angels. They will ride white horses, though. They do not strike the soldiers or the wicked. As they approach people, the bodies of men will simply start to dissolve. Not completely; there is enough left, so birds can eat them. Then they sweep the world, and the people still around have until the very last moment to repent. It is God's desire that all be saved.
