“The fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and its kingdom was plunged into darkness. People gnawed their tongues in anguish and cursed the God of heaven for their pain and sores. They did not repent of their deeds”.
The wrath is poured out on the throne of the beast, and its kingdom is thrown into darkness. That tells us that even though it has authority over all people, its actual kingdom is not over everyone. That would infer that the worst of these troubles will affect particular regions. The beast is made up of the lion, UK the Leopard, Europe, and the Bear of Russia. These are the nations that are going to suffer this wrath. There appears to be a close relationship between the first trumpet and the first wrath. In practical terms, this is hard to see happening. What could cause such a very specific area of darkness? It will take some combination of circumstances that I cannot think of. Possibly, this is a spiritual event to do with the hearts of these people.
