The woman of Israel brings forth the child, and by the description, it is clearly Jesus. It is likely the concept of the Messiah as the ruler with an iron rod. Israel was not chosen as God's people because they were good-looking or some kind of favourite. They were selected to bring the redeemer of the world into being. That they were determined enough that some remnant would last to the end of the age. When does this event of the child being snatched up into heaven occur? This concept of a woman giving birth to a child is an analogy. The problem with the concept is when we look at timelines. Are these visions of the time of Christ or the period preceding his second coming?
The description of one who is to rule with an iron rod mentions the period just before his second coming. A description from Jesus time would be different. A saviour or the Lamb of God. Jesus was an adult when he was taken up to heaven. Making it a reference to his first going up to heaven, void. The idea is that something or someone restraining Satan is removed. Satan's limits removal appears elsewhere as well Thessalonian's 2:6 “And you know what is restraining him now so that he may be revealed in his time. The mystery of lawlessness is already at work. Only he who now restrains it will do so until he is out of the way”. Who this person is who is restraining Satan has been the subject of great debate. This is the only instance where someone is removed, and it is Jesus. How this works in reality is not shown. One would assume that it is the laws and conditions that Jesus imposes on Satan that are actually removed. I know this is a stretch. I am just working with the words we have.
The sign in the sky was September 2017, which suggests we are entering the last few years now. When Satan cannot attack the woman, he turns his attention to the woman’s other offspring, the saints of the Lord. That is you and me.
